About
Mizmoe is my personal blog, an endeavour influenced by my daughter, who has been blogging for over six years and thoroughly enjoys the activity. Mostly it charts my everyday activities, as well as the highs and lows of living as an expat in Spain.
The name originated from my time working at the National Coal Board when colleagues gave me the nickname Ms Moe in the early 1970s. It arose when the government gave us “ladies” the opportunity to use the title “Ms”, rather than “Miss” or “Mrs”. I was a “feminist, vocal on all the rights denied women at this time, much more than just equal pay. I have now passed the “feminist” banner to my daughter who carries it with pride.
I was born just after the end of the second world war, so I am now retired and living (for the time being), in Spain. I have one dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, nicknamed “The Terrorist”. I have also lived in Scotland, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire (formerly the West Riding of Yorkshire and being a traditionalist, I prefer this name), Granada and Murcia, though I have now moved on to pastures new.
When young I enjoyed all sporting activities, my favourite being swimming, horse riding and running. I did enjoy dancing, as long as it is not ballroom, reading, the cinema, computers and computer games.
One of my main regrets about having mobility problems is that I can no longer walk very far.
